Community Engagement in the Clinical and Translational Science Awards-

Explore the community-based participatory research (CBPR), its relation to traditional clinical research, and the approaches taken to enhance community engagement and participation in research by several academic centers funded by the NIH Community Translational Science Award (CTSA). This is an overview of the CTSA and its role in promoting community engagement in academic centers will be provided. This session will also cover assessment of community priorities, principles of community engagement, and the role of practice-based research networks. Key issues in CBPR such as resource allocation, power sharing, and ethical considerations will also be addressed.
