APTR members gathered on Thursday, February 21st for the awards luncheon to honor the 2007 APTR award recipients. During the lively event, hosted by Lloyd F. Novick, MD, MPH, APTR bestowed it highest honors to leaders in the field of prevention and public health education.
President’s Award
The ceremony began with a surprise for Larry Dickey, MD, MPH, California Department of Health Services who was presented with the first President’s Award for his leadership and dedication as Chair of the 2008 APTR Annual Meeting.
Duncan Clark Award
F. Douglas Scutchfield, MD, University of Kentucky gave the Duncan Clark Lecture and was the recipient of the Duncan Clark Award for his outstanding achievements.
F. Marian Bishop Educator of the Year
Thomas M. Becker, MD, PhD, Oregon Health & Sciences University was awarded the F. Marian Bishop Educator of the Year Award for his dedication to educating future public health practitioners.
Outstanding Educational Program of the Year
The General Preventive Medicine & Public Health Residency at the University of Michigan School of Public Health received the Outstanding Educational Program of the Year Award for exemplifying extraordinary efforts in advancing education. Dr. Ronald Davis, President of the American Medical Association and Angela Beck, MPH, Program Manager accepted the award in honor of Matthew Boulton, MD, MPH, Residency Director.
Special Recognition Award
Rika Maeshiro, MD, MPH, Association of American Medical Colleges was presented the Special Recognition Award for her continued support of and dedication to APTR.
