The Luther Terry Fellowship provides unique opportunities to enhance leadership skills and foster
professional growth while contributing to important national prevention initiatives. While working at the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP), the Fellow with be a part of the complex interplay of science and politics that forms the basis for health policy.
Responsibilities include serving on numerous Federal task forces and inter-agency committees (asthma, cancer, and VA weight management), mentoring visiting scholars and physicians-in-training and working with APTR to ensure clinical prevention and population health is taught in all health professions schools.
At the conclusion of the Fellowship, the Luther Terry Fellow will be rooted in a professional network of disease prevention and health promotion leaders and able to make valuable contributions at the national, state, and local levels.

Eligibility
The applicant must possess a MD or DO degree and have completed a preventive medicine and/or primary care residence in the US (Alien Registration or "Green Card"). Student visas and temporary work visas do not qualify.
Application Procedures
Eligible applicant may apply for this Fellowship by submitting the enclosed application form, along with all required supporting materials. Each application will be objectively reviewed by representatives from APTR and ODPHP. Finalists will have a personal interview in Washington, DC with members of the selection committee.

The Luther L. Terry Senior Fellowship in Preventive Medicine is coordinated by the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Public Health and Science (OPHS), Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP).
