Interprofessional Prevention Education

2007 Institute | 2008 Institute

What is Interprofessional Prevention Education?

Interprofessional Prevention Education occurs when multiple health professions disciplines collaborate to advance the knowledge and skills of professionals and students in the areas of clinical prevention and population health.

How does APTR advance Interprofessional Prevention Education?

Interprofessional education is a priority of APTR and is being advanced by APTR in several ways. In collaboration with the Healthy People Curriculum Task Force, APTR has planned and initiated enhanced preventive educational activities with representatives from several health professions, including nursing, dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, and physician assistants. Several publications and curricular guidelines for clinical prevention and population health are available as a result of this collaboration.

The Institute for Interprofessional Prevention Education provides an opportunity to meet and learn from experts who have successfully implemented interprofessional education programs on their campuses. Using the common thread of clinical prevention and population health, APTR is able to reach across the health disciplines and provide opportunities to advance interprofessional education initiatives.
