Teaching Immunization for Nurses (TIP)

This curriculum consists of 3 modules containing a series of lessons that contain an agenda, student objectives, key teaching points and recommended student learning aids.

 

Teaching Immunizations For Nurses

 

TIP for nurses is currently not available.  Please watch this website for information pertaining to the update of this educational module.

 

  • Module 1: Basic Principles of Immunization
    Why immunization is important today; the nurse's role in improving immunization practices; basic characteristics of immunobiologics and information about vaccine-preventable diseases.

  • Module 2: Basic Principles of Vaccine Use
    Routinely recommended and special-use vaccines; administration of vaccines; real and false contraindications and adverse events following vaccinations.

  • Module 3: Immunization Practice, Delivery and Program Design
    Recognizing, identifying and addressing the barriers to vaccination, defining the nurse's role in overcoming barriers to immunization and taking action to improve immunization practices.

APTR and CDC developed curricular materials for nurses through a collaborative initiative with the American Nurses Association.
